Ethiopia’s Tigray blocks general’s appointment in blow to Abiy

A senior official with Tigray People’s Liberation Front, the regional governing party, says Abiy has no mandate to decide appointments, troops’ movement.

A brigadier general has been blocked from taking up a posting in Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region, an official said on Friday, escalating a dispute between the region and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government that analysts warn could turn violent.
The military officer flew on Thursday from the capital Addis Ababa to Tigray for his new assignment but returned after being informed “his appointment would not be considered legitimate”, said Getachew Reda, a senior official with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), the regional governing party.
“Any appointment or troop movement” is “totally unacceptable” at the moment because the TPLF believes Abiy no longer has a mandate for such moves, Getachew told AFP news agency.
A defence ministry spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The TPLF dominated Ethiopian politics for nearly 30 years before Abiy came to power in 2018 on the strength of anti-government protests.
Under Abiy, Tigrayan leaders have complained of being unfairly targeted in corruption prosecutions, removed from top positions and broadly scapegoated for the country’s woes.

Ethiopia: Addis Abeba Police Commission said one person sustained a light injury after an abandoned grenade exploded on him this morning in AddisAbeba near AdewaBridge. An assistant to a tax cab, the individual stepped on an object he found wrapped in a bag, which then exploded, injuring him. Via Addis Standard

The Tigirian People Liberation Front (TPLF) is continuing committing crimes against humanity in many forms. The military junta applied ethnic cleansing military operations in different parts of Ethiopia.
TPLF trained and assigned assassin groups in Oromia, Benishangul Gumuz and South Nation and Nationalities States’ of Ethiopia and killed many civilians focusing on Amhara. TPLF grew up in butchering its soldiers too in Tigrai and attacked EDF last week. Yesterday also this illegal force slaughtered many Amharas in Maikadra, which was the junta’s stronghold.
TPLF labeled the Amhara ethnic as its enemy and is killing civilians for their being Amhara anywhere else. In its entire regime, TPLF slaughtered many Ethiopians in different parts and Ethiopians overthrew it some years ago. However, the junta designed strategies to regain office and killed more Ethiopians. Former criminals who were the mastermind for torture and ethnic cleansing are also masterminds of the ongoing Amhara slaughtering in its territory.
The junta is losing strong holds in different warfronts and calling for negotiation to mislead the global community. However, the world knew TPLF’s lifelong conspiracies. It is to get time for consolidating the assassin group.
TPLF is a secessionist group who was held power in 1995 lead by blurred political philosophy, said that Revolutionary Democracy and looted Ethiopia for three decades. Ethiopians are demanding the global community to label TPLF as a terrorist group. Via AMMA

House of Federation adopts resolution to establish a transitional government in Tigray
Accordingly, the transitional government to be established in Tigray region will coordinate with other legitimate government bodies on ways of discarding unconstitutional practices in the region; it will also have the duties and powers endowed to the executive of the regional state. Accordingly, the transitional government will: lead and coordinate the executive body; assign individuals to lead the executive; ensure the rule of law is respected; facilitate the conducting of election in the region; approve regional budget and prepare plans; conduct other duties assigned by the federal government. The transitional government will also oversee all the resolutions adopted by the House of Federation, including the approval of the intervention by the federal government in Tigray regional state.
On October 02, Adem Farah, Speaker of the House of Federation, said that one of the measures the HoF will implement was the establishment of a regional transitional government, which will be accountable to the federal government. The other constitutional measure the speaker said was dispatching federal security forces to control the regional state’s actions that have endangered the constitutional order.

Ethiopian Airforce Attacked TPLF Bases in Tigray- PM Abiy Ahmed

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed told the public in a televised message the Ethiopian Airforce Attacked TPLF Bases around the city of Mekelle.
He announced the first phase of removing the “TPLF junta” completed successfully.
The Airstrikes were targeted on heavy artilleries that the Ethiopian armed forces believed TPLF might be able to use them to attack other cities. He confirmed that the strikes destroyed heavy rocket launchers and other weapons.

Isaias [Afwerki] is playing his role as if he is a PP member, betraying the freedom of the country. Showing him around our Air Force base was outrageous. The base is restricted even to our own citizens let alone to a leader whose solders are pointing their rifles right in front of us, hiding in their fortress.
